I recently discovered a new online store that sells natural, clean, organic skincare and makeup products for men and women – Indie Beauty Shop! They are a new Canadian retailer that focuses on finding made-in-Canada small-batch indie brands. They were kind enough to send me some products to try and review for you all. I was so excited because a lot of the brands that they sell are ones that I had never heard of before. So – here we go! Stay tuned to the end of the post for a special discount code if you want to try out this shop for yourself!
Ingredients: zea mays (corn starch), kaolin clay, silica, vanilla planifolia extract, olea europaea (olive leaf) extract, may contain iron oxides CI 77491, 77019, 77499
Awesome list of ingredients! I love when its short, sweet, and easy to understand.
My Review: This is actually the first natural dry shampoo that I have tried and I was really impressed! It was a great opportunity for me to finally get rid of my not-so-green alternative. This product smells amazing – like vanilla and grapefruit. I love that it is also a darker tint (think caramel colour). This makes it easier to blend into my dark hair and doesn’t leave me looking grey like white powders do! Of course, it also comes in a version formulated for light hair as well. 🙂 It is vegan and cruelty-free (yay!). Plus – this product is local: made in Toronto!
Ingredients: vitis vinifera (grape) seed oil, passiflora edulis (passion fruit) seed oil, carapa guaianensis seed oil, copaifera officinalis, euterpe oleracea fruit oil, melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree leaf) oil, essential oil blend for gentle scent.
Once again, a great list of ingredients. It is also available for purchase without the essential oils for those who prefer unscented products.
My Review: I am still trying to figure out how I feel about this product. I love how it feels on my skin and it is very moisturizing, which has been really great since the weather has gotten cold. It does help a lot with inflammation, but so far I have not found that it has helped to actually prevent my acne breakouts. I also am not too keen on how it smells. I have only been using it for about 3 weeks though so I am going to keep trying it out and will let you know if it starts to work! I must say though – I am really excited to try more from the Terra Tribe brand.
Ingredients:water, organic shea butter (butyrospermum parkii), cetearyl glucoside, cetearyl alcohol, cetyl alcohol, caprylic/capric triglycerides, glycerin, propanediol, aloe barbandensis butter, avocado (persea gratissima) oil, coconut (cocos nucifera) oil, glyceryl caprylate, helianthus annus (sunflower seed) oil, melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) oil, rosemary (rosemarinus officinalis) extract, tocopherol
Another awesome list of ingredients! I love that shea butter is the main ingredient in this product – so moisturizing and has so many awesome benefits for your skin.
My Review: Since this product is intended for men, both Keith and I decided to try it out! We both really liked it. Personally, I don’t care that its a men’s product because the scent is gender neutral and it works amazingly well. It is a thick cream that is great for hands and cracked heels. It absorbs well and has a moisturizing effect that lasts a long time – even between washes! I think this is going to be my new go-to hand cream for this winter. When the weather gets cold, I need something strong to keep my hands soft and this definitely fits the bill! I am looking forward to trying more from this line – even if it is just as presents for Keith!
Ingredients: ricinus communis seed oil, beeswax (cera alba), hydrogenated castor oil, copernicia cerifera wax, polyglycerides sunflower oil, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, organic shea butter (butyrospermum parkii), caprylic /capric triglycerides, copernica cerifera wax, euphorbia cerifera wax, rosmarinus officinalis extract, vanilla plantifora oil, glyceryl caprylate, simmondsia chinesis seed oil, carthamus tinctorious oil, tocopherol (May Contain: CI 77891, 77019, 77491, 77492, 77499, 15850, 45410, 15850, 42090, 19140)
Once again, another awesome ingredients list. The only thing to be aware of with this product is that it is not vegan since it contains beeswax.
My Review: The formula of this lip gloss is incredibly thick and creamy. I found it actually wore more like a lipstick than a gloss. It didn’t have any noticeable scent or taste and it tended to wear off quickly (I found myself needing to re-apply quite often). However, the colour is gorgeous (this shade is also known as Mocha-Peach Dream) and it was very moisturizing for my lips – especially in the colder weather! And the final bonus of course, like all the other products, Paz & Lourdes products are made in Canada! I really hope that Indie Beauty Shop begins to carry other makeup products from this brand because I want to try more!
Overall, I am really impressed with the customer service at Indie Beauty Shop and their line of products. I love the fact that they sell a number of local brands that I haven’t seen anywhere else. I am really looking forward to seeing them continually expand their inventory and find more awesome Canadian-made natural skincare and beauty products.
If you want to try out any of these products for yourself or check out Indie Beauty Shop, they are offering my readers $10 off any purchase over $35 (before shipping) for the month of November with the promo code MADE102014 .
Let me know what you think if you have tried any of these products yourself!
This is my first time posting full ingredient lists with my product reviews. I would love to know if this is something you all prefer and would like to see in future posts! 🙂
Thank you so much for stopping by and I will see you all next week!
