I was recently sent a basket of goodies to try from YesWellness – an awesome Canadian online shop that focuses on health management, nutrition, and helping people to lead a positive way of life (the “Yes to Wellness” lifestyle). I had been checking out their site for a while and there were a number of goodies on my list that I had wanted to try. I love the fact that they are a Canadian company (operating out of B.C.) and stock a lot of Canadian brand names. You all know I love to shop local! 🙂 Plus – it means that us Canadians actually have a free shipping offer for orders of $49 or more (before tax)! The regular rate for orders under that amount is only $9.95. Online shopping can be so frustrating as a Canadian due to high shipping costs so this is a huge plus and makes a BIG difference for me!
Of couse – I wanted to show you all the different items I got and let you know what I thought about them! So – here we go with my YesWellness Haul!
Price: $40.99 for 30 single serve packets
My opinion is mixed on this product. If you watched my recent November/December Empties Video, you know that I absolutely love green coffee bean products. I find that green coffee is so energizing and helps me focus, without the negative side effects of regular coffee. This was my first time trying a green coffee product as a powdered drink. It did taste really good (lemon iced tea flavour), but I feel the same way about this as I do about vitamin gummies. I don’t have a problem taking pills and this feels like an unnecessary dose of sweetener (although I do like that it is sweetened with stevia!). If you do have troubles swallowing pills though, this would definitely be a more pleasant alternative that is for sure.
This product claims to help with weight management and increase fat burning due to a high concentration of chlorogenic acid (50% or 400mg), which is an extract from the green coffee bean. I can’t really say that I have noticed results directly connected with the use of this product. I have been losing a lot of weight recently, but it is mostly due to my IBS nutritionist meal plan. I will keep using it though and let you know!
Pink Clay Soothing Mask – Lotus Aroma
This was my first time trying something from Lotus Aroma and I can see why they chose the name! As soon as I opened this face mask, it filled my bathroom with an amazing rose scent. It was very relaxing and had an aromatherapy effect. The main ingredients are different types of clays, aloe vera, witch hazel, and a mix of different oils and floral extracts. It is free from soaps, mineral oils, GMO oils, parabens, silicone, artificial dyes and fragrances, phthalates, gluten, and it is vegan (yay!).
The mask is very smooth and feels great on the skin. It definitely made my face look brighter, fresh and clean. However, according to the directions you have to wait about 10 minutes for the mask to dry before rinsing it off. For my skin, this made it very drying – especially since my skin is already very dry during the winter. I was left with some flaky bits soon after rinsing it off. Next time I am going to try only leaving it on for 5 minutes before rinsing it off to see if that helps.
Price: $7.90 for 20 tea bags
This tea is meant to enhance your mood, reduce cravings and help with anxiety. I had never heard of the Lorna Vanderhaeghe brand before, but I love that it is a “proudly Canadian company”! This tea tastes incredible – it actually oddly reminds me of orange Kool-aid or Gatorade (in a good way :p). However, it is very hard to tell whether or not it actually has all the benefits of mood enhancement or cravings/anxiety reduction. I haven’t noticed any real positive side effects so far, but I will keep drinking it and let you know!
Price: $7.90 for 20 tea bags
This tea is meant to improve your energy, metabolism, and digestion – all three things which I was very interested in trying! I definitely should not that if you do not like the taste of ginger, this tea is not for you. I, however, love ginger – especially during the winter months and when I am feeling under the weather. Drinking this tea definitely had a little “perk-me-up” effect. I liked having it mixed with a little almond milk and stevia extract. Yum! I am looking forward to trying some of the other flavours of tea from the Lorna Vanderhaeghe line.
I am honestly so happy that they sent me this to try – it is my new favourite natural toothpaste! It tastes amazing (with a subtle hint of sweet pomegranate) and works really well. From an ingredients standpoint, it gets a definite pass in my book. It is free from fluoride, saccharin, gluten, and SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) and uses stevia extract, essential oils, botanicals and fruit extracts for the flavouring and the main cleaning ingredients are Neem, Triphala (made from 3 fruits) and pomegranate which, I didn’t realize, actually works as an astringent! It leaves my mouth feeling fresh and clean. I love it and will definitely be purchasing this again in the future!
I am relatively new to the world of aromatherapy so I was really excited to try this roll-on. I am a person who is very susceptible to stress and anxiety so this seemed like the perfect fit! It is a combination of different oils, including coconut, jojoba, patchouli, orange, ylang ylang and clove bud. Needless to say, it smells incredible. You apply it to your temples, neck and shoulders in times of high stress and it really does have a very soothing, relaxing effect. The main problem I have is actually remembering to put it on when I am caught up in the moment! This is definitely a product I will continue to use.
All-in-One Nutritional Shake – Vega One (Vanilla Chai and Flavours)
Single serving sample packs
I am not able to actually try these right now because I am on my strict IBS nutrionist diet/meal plan, but I am already very familiar with the Vega One shake powders! I love that they are vegan and made from very high quality ingredients. Vanilla Chai is one of my all time favourite protein/meal supplement powders and is great for after workouts or between meals. Definitely something that I recommend checking out!
Ester-C Energy Boost to Go – Sisu (Açai-Pomegranite and Lemon-Lime Flavours)
Price: $18.79 for 30 single serve packets
This was probably my least favorite product from this haul. Keith and I decided to try these together. Out of the 2 flavors, I was a bigger fan of the acai- pomegranate and Keith preferred the lemon-lime. However, neither of us really actually liked the taste of these drinks. They were very sugary and vaguely reminded us of Gatorade or a cheap knock-off sports drink. It may have been something I would have enjoyed as a kid, but definitely way too sweet for me!
The drinks are filled with vitamins and electrolytes, so I can see why an athlete or very active individual would like it to help during training or events. Keith and I really didn’t experience much of an energy boost after drinking it though, and personally, this is not something that I would repurchase.
Bonus Items: YesWellness Shaker Bottle, Cloth Bag & Lip Balm!
Price: Shaker Bottle $9.99
It was so awesome to get these bonus goodies nestled in with all the other products. You can buy the shaker bottle on the YesWellness website, but I believe the lip balm and bag are just promotional items. The only unfortunate thing about the lip balm is that there is no ingredients list so I can’t tell you whats in it or not. It does seem to work well though – a nice subtle fruity scent and very moisturizing. The bag is a perfect size for me to carry my lunches in and the shaker bottle is awesome, great for use with powders like the Vega One or the Green Coffee packets. Always great to have a few of these around the house! 🙂
Overall, I really like YesWellness and am excited to try out more products from their site in the future. I love that they are Canadian, have a free shipping offer for Canadians, and have really good customer service.
