Hello everyone!

I hope you are all having an absolutely wonderful holiday season, filled with lots of friends and family. One of the best parts of this time of year, in my opinion, is taking a moment to reflect back on everything that has happened in the last 365 days and look forward to creating a fresh start in the year ahead. I know that making New Year’s Resolutions are a bit cliche, but I think it is a great way to write down your intentions and push yourself to make changes for the better in the new year.

This year has been a big year for me, filled with highs and lows. I have struggled with figuring out my IBS issues but am now hopefully on a diet plan that is working! I have now lost over 20 lbs as part of my fitness journey (don’t worry – I will be posting a weight loss update in early January to tell you all about it!). I posted my 100th video and, for the first time, had a video surpass 10,000 views! I made so many amazing connections  this year and am so excited to continue building this website and my Youtube channel in 2015.

So, I want to share with you some of my New Year’s Resolutions for two reasons: 1) You all are so good at helping to keep me accountable and; 2) I want to help inspire and push you to make your own. You can write your own resolutions in the comments below and I will do my best to help make sure that we both meet our goals!

Plus – I have an incredible surprise giveaway from GoodLife Fitness that will hopefully help you reach your fitness goals in 2015, so stay tuned to the end of this post to find out how you can win!

1. Get More Sleep

I am a night owl and all too often I stay up late editing videos, answering emails, or writing blog posts. I find it so difficult to wake up early in the morning and end up hitting snooze multiple times, which often results in feeling rushed to get ready and try to avoid being late. I also know, however, that getting a good night’s sleep  is crucial to both your mental and physical health. My resolution is to try to get to bed before 10:30pm every night and, with that, get up and have productive mornings. Late nights should be the exception and not my norm!

2. Spend Less Time on Social Media

In order to make sure I am getting to bed early, I need to use my waking hours before and after work more wisely. This means cutting down the amount of time I spend wasting on social media. All too often I get sucked into mindlessly browsing Facebook or getting myself into drama-filled posts (anti-feminist arguments – I cant leave those alone!). My resolution is to have a designated time period each day to go on social media in order to help free up my mornings and evenings for more important goals (such as resolutions #3-6!).

3. Do More Yoga & Meditation

I absolutely love yoga and meditation. I know that practicing mindfullness is immensely beneficial for my mental and physical health. It reduces stress and anxiety, increases flexibility and strength, and just makes me feel great. I used to do yoga almost every morning, but over the last year it has moved lower and lower on my priority list. My goal is to do at least one yoga or meditation session each week – whether it is a quick session at home or making it out to a full yoga class at GoodLife Fitness. I know that this resolution will be so good for me!

4. Stick with My IBS Meal Plan

Most of you already know, but for the last two months I have been working with a nutritionist at Earth Suit Nutrition to help with my IBS and digestive issues. The meal plan that I am currently on is doing wonders and for the first time in a long time, I am really starting to feel better. It is, however, incredibly difficult to stay on track. The temptation to eat sweets and snack is a constant struggle – especially at the office and on special occasions (and when your partner isn’t on the meal plan too). I really want to put my full effort into continuing to follow the meal plan and hopefully resolve my IBS issues once and for all. This will probably be one of the more difficult resolutions to sustain long term, but I think that if I can stick with it for long enough my body will adapt and I won’t crave those bad foods as much. This is one resolution where I will really need everyone’s help and support!

5. Teach a Zumba Class

This isn’t so much a resolution as it is a flat-out goal. If you follow me on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook, you probably saw that on December 7th, I became a certified Zumba instructor. I have posted about my love affair with Zumba many times on this blog – it is something that makes me feel sexy, strong, and is so much fun! I really want to share my love and experience of this amazing fitness class and teach it for myself. Over the next few weeks, I will be focusing on getting at least 2 hours of choreography under my belt but by the end of winter, I want to start applying for teaching positions – even if I start off with volunteer teaching opportunities! It is something that I really want to do.

6. Keep Going to Classes at GoodLife Fitness

In my October Weight Loss Update Video, I talked about my current fitness routine. I have been going to Body Pump classes on Wednesday nights and double Zumba classes on Saturday mornings at GoodLife Fitness. I am finding that this schedule really is working for me – much better than trying to force myself to go to the gym and workout by myself. My resolution for 2015 is to keep this routine, while adding in some extra at-home Tone It Up workouts. I want to keep burning off that extra fat and building strong, lean muscles. I know that this routine, in combination with my healthy IBS meal plan, will be my ticket to seeing real results!

And that is it! 🙂 Those are my resolutions for 2015.

I hope you are all going to help keep me accountable! They won’t be easy to keep, but I know that if I am able to make these changes they will be good for my health and overall happiness.  But – enough about me!
