One of my favourite places to buy natural health and beauty products is an awesome Canadian online shop called YesWellness. It focuses on health management, nutrition, and helping people to lead a positive way of life (the “Yes to Wellness” lifestyle). I love the fact that they are a Canadian company (operating out of B.C.), stock a number of Canadian brands, and offer free shipping for Canadian orders of $49 or more (before tax)! This makes a big difference since shopping online with American websites can make the shipping and exchange rates very expensive.
I posted a YesWellness haul a few months ago, but I recently bought a new round of goodies so I wanted to share my review of everything with you! Most of the products I bought with my own money and two were sent to me by YesWellness to try. I found some awesome new favourites and I can’t wait to tell you all about them – so here we go!
This was one of the products that YesWellness sent me to try. They told me to use it for at least 2-4 weeks consistently to get the best results. I have used it for almost 8 weeks now, on and off because of my crazy travel schedule. Unfortunately, the product needs to be refrigerated so I don’t take it with me when I am away from home – I am too afraid that it will spoil and I will ruin it!
There are only a few ingredients: 50% of it is Borage and Borage seed oil which works as an anti-inflammatory and treatment for a wide variety of skin disorders (eczema, dry skin, dermatitis, etc.) and the other 50% is Sunflower oil which is an antioxidant rich in Vitamin E to help keep the skin moisturized.
I have definitely found that I can feel and see a difference in my skin on days where I am able to use this oil consistently. I take one teaspoon serving along with one of my meals or before bedtime, but it says you can also add it to smoothies or salads. I can’t wait until I am home on a regular basis to use long term! This is definitely something I will be repurchasing, since I have difficulties with acne/dry skin and I think it could really help! I also love the fact that Lorna Vanderhaeghe is a Canadian company that boasts it is “women helping women”. What is not to love?
This was the other product sent to me by YesWellness to try, so everything after this point I bought with my own money! This is by far my favourite item from this haul – I am absolutely in love!
From an ingredient standpoint, is is primarily made with a number of different oils and plant extracts, aloe vera gel, zinc oxide and titanium dioxide (how it has the spf sun protection), and witch hazel (toning agent for your skin). The only other ingredients of note are Honeysuckle flower extract, which I know is a source of some controversy among the green beauty community, and Ceteth-10 Phosphate which the Environmental Work Groups notes has some contamination concerns with carcinogens like 1-4 Dioxane. However, Lotus Aroma is a company that very much emphasizes quality ingredients and high standards of manufacturing, so I feel fairly confident that they would be testing their ingredients to ensure there is little to no contamination! The final note is that the label does list “natural fragrance”, but it also specifies that this is made up of botanical extracts and essential oils. So – overall thumbs up in my opinion!
This cream is so smooth and has almost a whipped-like consistency. The colour blends perfectly with my skin tone (swatch picture is on the left!) and wears really well under the rest of my makeup. I have been using it mostly as a primer before my concealer and foundation because it has very light coverage, really just working to help even out your skin tone. It has a light herbal, slightly floral scent and is a joy to put on in the morning. Definitely something I will be repurchasing!
I was honestly so excited to try this product from the minute I read the description online – Powdered Peanut Butter? How cool is that!
I have only had the chance to try this 2 or 3 times since I have bought it, mostly since I haven’t been home that much but so far I really like it! It is very easy to add in to smoothies (and a lot less messy than conventional peanut butter) and it tastes the exact same! I just added in two scoops of the powder to my smoothies. It also says on the package that you can mix in 2 tbsp of powder with 1 tbsp of water to get the more traditional peanut butter consistency on its own. I tried this, and while it did achieve a very similar texture (picture below on the left!) I wasn’t that big of a fan of how it tastes on its own. It has a very natural, almost slightly bitter taste that isn’t as good as traditional peanut butter – you can taste that it is missing all those fatty oils! I won’t be eating it on its own again anytime soon, but I am excited to try it in other recipes since it does taste very good in my smoothies! Little bonus note – because it doesn’t have the fatty oils that peanuts contain, it is 85% less fat calories than traditional peanut butter! All the protein (5g per 2 tbsp) without the fat – yay! 😀
The fermented vegan proteins+ bars have been a favourite item of mine for a few months now, making reoccurring appearances in many of my food diaries , so I really wanted to try out their protein powder! Small side note – I really wish that YesWellness sold protein bars from some of the brands they carry. I would love to not only buy my fermented ones from this site, but they also carry a cricket protein powder that I think also makes protein bars which would be SO interesting to try.
So… some weird news about this particular item. I was waiting to try it until I used up some of my other open protein powder tubs and in the crazyness of all the travel I have been doing lately – I seem to have misplaced it! Haha – oh the joys of moving and being away a lot. When I find it and am actually able to try it, you will be the first to know what I think and I will post a full review! For now, it remains just an exciting mystery that I hope to try one day soon…
This is a tried and true favourite for me! I am a huge fan of Vega One powders and have been using them for a few years now. You probably have seen them in a lot of my food diaries if you have been following me for a while! This was just a restock as I had run out at home and YesWellness was having a sale on this particular tub because I think they are discontinuing the size offering (its a mini tub – only 438g). I will definitely be repurchasing this and many other flavours of Vega One in the future!
Since I carry a reusable water bottle with me at all times, I am always excited to add a new one to my collection! Apparently the site had a problem with an incorrect email from Canada Post going out to some of its customers, so it sent us all a promo code to get this water bottle free with our next purchase! Yay for free things! I absolutely love this bottle too – I think it not only looks really nice, but it has a great really secure closure and a handle for carrying it around (not shown in the picture, it is on the back side!). Thank you YesWellness and Canada post! hehe…
Overall, I am so happy with this purchase and haul! YesWellness is such an awesome site and I cannot wait to try out more goodies from them soon!
If you want to try it out for yourself, they were kind enough to give me a discount code to share with all of you – use COURT5 to get $5 off a purchase of $75 or more from YesWellness! Since you will be spending more than $49, you will also get free shipping with this offer if you are in Canada. So many good reasons to go and check it out!
Have you tried any of these products before? If so, what did you think? Let me know down below!
See you all soon!
