Hello my lovelies!
As many of you already know, I am a huge fan of the Genuine Health line of protein powders and supplements. Their fermented vegan protein powder and line of bars is one of my absolute top faves (watch my full review here!), so I was very excited when Goodness Me (my go-to store for health and wellness items in Guelph) contacted me to do a review of the Genuine Health Vegan Greens+ Nourishing Superfood Supplement. They gave me a choice of flavours, and I decided that the Acai Mango sounded the most appealing.
I gave it a try this this week, so I wanted to let you know my thoughts!
Texture: The powder mixes well. It did have a slightly grainy texture, as most powdered drinks do, but it was overall a smooth drink with a very pleasant mouth-feel. The only time the texture wasn’t so great was the very last sip at the end, which was almost all powder. You might be able to avoid this problem if you shake it together a little longer, or finish the drink a little faster.
Taste: The acai flavour is the strongest taste, with the green and mango flavours taking more of a subtle backseat. The fruit and green (plant/veggie) combination takes a bit of getting used to, and has a slightly artificial taste (a kind of “fake fruit” vibe), but overall it is pretty good! I tried it with water, but I think it would taste a lot better if you mixed it with juice or did a half water/half juice blend.
Ingredients: The superfood supplement is gluten, dairy and soy free, non-gmo, vegan, and made with 70% organic ingredients – all of which is awesome to see! It is also a Canadian line of products, which you know is very important to me since I strongly advocate for supporting local brands. The list of ingredients is long and full of veggies and plants. For example, it contains: spirulina, carrot, apple peel, chia seed, alfalfa grass, chlorella, red beet root, brown rice, broccoli sprouts, broccoli, extracts of ginseng root, licorce root, and japanese green tea leaf – just to name a few! It is sweetened with stevia leaf, citric acid and a blend of natural fruit flavours.
Overall Review: The Acai Mango Nourishing Superfood drink is a pleasant drink overall with a long list of great, healthy, organic ingredients. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who struggles to get their daily nutrition or who just wants a boost of extra good stuff in their diet. That being said, I don’t think that I would buy this particular product again because, personally, I am a little turned off by the fruit flavour. I would be willing to try some of the other flavours in their line, but I would be more prone to buying a non-flavoured supplement (e.g., just the plain old greens+ version!).
Have you tried any of the Genuine Health Nourishing Superfoods before? If so, I would love to hear what you think!
Thanks again to Goodness Me for sending this product for me to try – I am always on the lookout for new green, natural supplements!
Be Happy. Be Healthy. Be You!
See you all again soon.
